Hello - Welcome to this week’s episode of The App Collective newsletter.
This episode is free for everyone to read, and the format will be slightly different, so I’ll mostly recap some things that have happened over the past week. There won’t be any tips, but I hope you enjoy the read.
This week has been a fun one in the Shopify ecosystem. Let’s talk about it.
What’s inside:
Celebrating wins
Mantle’s SEISMIC event
Guides on the Shopify App Store
Celebrating wins
Whether you’re an app with Built for Shopify status, have just been recently approved to join the customer accounts launch, have been recently featured in a new Shopify App Store guide (or 3), or are just focusing on the best onboarding experience possible for the customer to succeed during BFCM, please take a moment and pat yourselves on the back because you are amazing.
We don’t always celebrate big or small wins because we don’t always slow down to prioritize those moments. But why not? You’re accomplishing things that others wish to achieve. You are breaking barriers in your mind that you didn’t even see possible before. Buy yourself an extra large coffee today. Or a taco. Oh, come on, why not a slice of cake?
I recently ran a thread on Twitter asking you all what you did to celebrate MRR milestones. I found it interesting to read some of the ways you all took a pause and recognized your hard work. It was a fun read if anyone missed it and wants inspiration for their next win.
I particularly loved this celebration from Vishwesh Shetty. His wife added their apps to the decorative accents on the celebration table.
Mantle’s SEISMIC event
There was a lot of build-up to the big day, where Mantle rolled out some product updates that would surely blow our minds.
And yes, the updates were plentiful. Minds were blown. The chat on YouTube with everyone was explosive. I was just happy to be with everyone and would love to curate opportunities for us all to do stuff like that again. Not that we need a wonderfully produced video with Jordan, Blair, and Ryan owning their voice and commanding the stage - though that was impressively cool. It was fun to Kiki with everyone all under the same timeline of a real-time discussion.
If you missed the event, they rolled out several updates in these areas:
1. Mantle Affiliates Marketplace & Payments
2. Mantle Partnerships (beta)
3. Mantle Intake
4. Mantle Email
5. Mantle Flow
It was like watching PacMan in real time, where they were gobbling up everything from affiliate programs to Crossbeam or partnership platforms to email service providers for segmentation and trigger automation and even eating up a slice of platforms like Hubspot and more.
Guides on the Shopify App Store
The marketing team at Shopify has been BUSY quietly rolling out guides-on-guides. They don’t actually tell you that your app is featured in them, you’ll likely just find them on the bottom of your app listing magically one day. So stay tuned, Christmas, Hanukkah or any other holiday you celebrate could come sooner than you think. Just keep checking your app listing to see if you too get a special gift this holiday season from the mothership.
I don’t think they are groundbreaking for installs but I do think they add social proof and credibility to your app listing. Plus, aren’t they gorgeous?
Here’s some of the latest ones I’ve seen in my travels across the App Store over the past few weeks.
That concludes this week’s episode. I hope you enjoyed it. We went down a slightly different path today but it’s always fun to celebrate wins even when they aren’t yours. I know I enjoy doing that regularly.
Until next week,
Deb
If you have GA enabled for your app listing, you can also see traffic your app listing is getting from the Shopify guides. The URL will look something like this in the page location that comes through from GA: =story&surface_detail=guide-web-pixels&surface_intra_position=1&surface_type=story. It's a helpful way to find guides you may not realize you were mentioned in. More in this Shopify help doc: https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/launch/marketing/track-listing-traffic
