How's everyone doing? It's wild to think we started on this journey 20 weeks ago. There are currently around 400 Shopify apps and a few merchants subscribed; around 30-40% of you read this newsletter weekly. That doesn't seem like a lot in the grand scheme of things, but I'm so grateful for anyone interested in reading what we (guests included) have to say weekly.
Fun fact: 20 is my favorite number. So, I suppose we better make this episode a good one.
I posted this set on X yesterday during a stormy day in Miami. Four Tet X Skrillex X Fred Again played together at Coachella last year. This set will only be available on Coachella's YouTube channel until October, so listen to it while it lasts. It's excellent!!

Shopify App Store category changes
Shopify is putting all of that wonderful data they are collecting across the App Store including category usage to good use. They have made some changes to the categories that are being rolled out today! This should drastically help with getting your app discovered.
I suspect this will also be a better experience for the merchants trying to find the best apps to fill their needs. I’m always excited by these changes to see how it affects installs so here we go!
All you need to do is review the new category list and choose 1 category that best describes your app. It’s fairly straightforward.

Media gallery don'ts lol
We need to discuss media gallery images. I will discuss the dos in depth during my talk at Editions, but today, I wanted to focus on some don'ts. Things are getting more and more chaotic on these pages. I know I told you to update your media gallery more than every five years, but some of you have taken things to the extreme!
These don'ts are my opinions and my opinion only.
Don't:
Add reviews to your media gallery images
Add emojis to your media gallery images
Add lines on lines on lines -with tons of them leading your eyeballs in every direction
Tons of arrows - I personally am not a fan of arrows in general, but the amount I see on 1 image is criminal. JAIL TIME.
A mix and match of colors on top of your brand colors
Too much italic typeface
I'm fighting back the urge to share some examples of these acts of criminal behavior, but I will instead share an example of the perfect media gallery image. I don't know this app, but they got it right in every way.
