Introducing ... The App Collective
Being in the Shopify app store in 2015 was like being in the wild wild west. There were only a handful of solutions that solved specific problems, making it somewhat easy for a merchant to discover and understand how to make sense out of what was being offered.
Today, there’s an app for everything you could imagine—and even for functionality that you wouldn't even inherently think up in your mind. There is quite literally an app for everything these days. In fact, at the time of publishing this, there are just over 6,500 apps in the Shopify app store.
As a merchant, that is daunting.
When people are faced with too many options, we go into information overload, and we are likely to choose the non-decision. Or worse, we end up trying everything and get rid of, or uninstall, what we don’t want.
This isn’t ideal for any kind of product business. For Shopify apps, the uninstall rates hurt your quality score and retention rates. For merchants, sometimes you think you've uninstalled apps that carry over existing code to new apps, which throws off the new app's functionality.
In June of 2021, a couple of Shopify app developer partners were in a partner meeting discussing the myriad of ways the two could partner up together to bring awareness to each app and complement each other's core functionality.
During the brainstorming session, it became clear that the opportunity was not only to elevate each other's respective businesses but also to help to educate the Shopify store owner on what was available in this next phase of growth.
With that in mind, I’m pleased to introduce to you The App Collective
The App Collective is a collection of Shopify apps in categories such as merchandising and conversions, customer service, and shipping and fulfillment to help brands make sense out of what is available to take their business to the next level. Shopify store owners will quickly learn from these solutions with content including webinars, an ebook, a Discord community, hot takes, Q&A, round table discussions, and more.
Software solutions can become expensive very quickly. And the tech stack for your Shopify store could easily start to outgrow the investment paid on your Shopify subscription alone. Brands want to know that the app will help them grow in ways that will offset that investment. Buyers want to demo the solution before they even agree to install it for free.
This is why the webinars offered in The App Collective are a central place for Shopify store owners to get an up-close view of the solution on the product page, in the back-end of the software, and the features that will help move the needle on their business.
